Abstract:
This study takes from analyzing the narrative discourse in the tale (Wardan Al-Jazzar), one of the tales of the Thousand and One Nights, as a model for studying the ways people communicate with each other, and how the speaker can communicate his thoughts to the recipient, through the literary message, by employing persuasive techniques in the narrative discourse, where the narration turns into A means that serves persuasion, which would reveal the functional rapprochement between linguistics and narration, by employing the theory of relevance, focusing its attention on the listener’s view of communicative acts, and their role in achieving enjoyment, by first studying time and its persuasive value. In terms of the chronological order, the rhythm of the narration, the duration of the story, and the frequency, it is also concerned with studying the axis of the discourse formula, which is concerned with how the narrator presents the story to the recipient, through the axes of presentation and narration. Thirdly, it focuses its attention on the narrative vision that clarifies the relationship between the narrator and what he narrates, in what is called the narrator, i.e. the narrator’s position and voice in the axis of the story.
